Black Rhino Ventures, LLC Recommended Gear List Winter

 

Black Rhino adventures are all inclusive and our snowmobiling guests will enjoy the use of the finest snowmobiling gear and equipment. For those of you who wish to bring your own clothing and gear, we have assembled the following check list of our recommended items to bring with you for your adventure. In addition, we have assembled gear packages that are available for purchase should you wish to wear the best and then take it with you for your next outing. Outerwear

Jacket

This top-layer should be a waterproof / windproof type ski, snowboard or snowmobile shell.

Pants

This top-layer should be a waterproof / windproof type ski, snowboard or snowmobile shell. Some users prefer a bib-style pant which affords users with extra protection in the snow. It should possess a gator feature in the legs.

Balaclava

Gloves

waterproof / windproof. For extra warmth, we recommend a liner or mittens. Gloves should be gauntlet style. We also recommend bringing two pair if your adventure features multiple days of skiing, snowmobiling, etc.

Mid-Layer

Jacket

Fleece or down type jacket used in a layering system.

Pants

Fleece pant used in a layering system.

Base Layer

Long Sleeve Top

Thermal top constructed of a moisture-wicking fabric such as those from Smartwool, Under Armour or REI. We recommend one for every 2 days of activity.

Short Sleeve Top

First layer in your layering system utilizing “smart” fabrics. We recommend one per day.

Pants

First layer in your layering system. Should feature moisture-wicking fabric such as those from Smartwool, Under Armour or REI. We recommend one per every 2 days of activity.

Under Garments


Socks

Knee-height, heavy weight ski, snowboard or snowmobile style socks such as those from Klim or Smartwool.

Boots

We recommend a quality Winter Pac Boot that is rated to at least -40 degrees. Our experience has shown us that boots such as those made by Klim, Baffin or Sorel are ideal.
